F70

F70LA

Lightweight Powerhouse

The launch of Yamaha’s F70 changed customers’ expectations of outboards in this category forever. Beating in the heart of the F70 is a unique four-cylinder, 16-valve design activated by a single overhead camshaft. The 4-valves per cylinder valvetrain has dramatically increased this outboard’s volumetric efficiency, effectively transferring more air and exhaust at a more efficient rate. This makes the F70 more fuel-efficient, promotes a stronger torque band and makes the F70 lighter than all four-stroke and direct injected two-stroke competitors. The F70’s awesome performance offers huge versatility and makes it the perfect power option for a huge range of mid-sized fishing boats and pleasure craft. The 70 horsepower is now available in both traditional Yamaha grey and new pearlescent white colour options, in a long shaft only.   Performance Reports  We take out the guess work in buying a new outboard, by rigorously testing  our range of engines on Australia’s most popular boating brands. • Features

    • The Yamaha F70 utilises an advanced 1.0 litre, sixteen-valve, four-cylinder marine engine, featuring a sophisticated single-overhead camshaft (SOHC), with four-valves per-cylinder valve-train for maximum power and efficiency. Weight is reduced while the intake valve area is increased 17%.
    • Simply connect a hose to the easy access connector to flush salt and dirt from the outboard without having to run the engine. Flushing the engine after each usage reduces corrosion and extends the engines life.
    • Yamaha’s push-button trim control makes engine trim and tilt adjustments quick, smooth and easy, across a wide trim range. The negative trim settings allow for improved acceleration and the ability to bring the boat onto the plane more quickly.
    • The Multi-Point Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) system, injects the right amount of fuel into the combustion chamber at the optimum timing. This system takes into account engine speed and load requirements to achieve maximum engine performance including hot and cold starting and improved fuel efficiency.
    • The F70 provides outstanding holeshot and acceleration performance thanks in part to an advanced engine sensors that monitors and adjusts ignition timing for maximum performance and a gear case featuring a high 2.33:1 gear ratio, with specially hardened pinion, forward, and reverse gears for increased durability.
    • A 12-Volt 15-Amp high-output alternator ensures that power is always available to start the engine, even after long periods of idling or running at low revs. This not only provides extra starting power, but delivers sufficient power to run the wide array of on-board electronic devices used in modern boating.
    • One of Yamaha's best selling controls, this mechanical remote offers comfort, simplicity and flexibility. With its new ergonomic grip, reversible right-hand or left-hand installation, and convenient trim and tilt operation, this control offers all-round functionality and value.
    • As air enters the F70, it is routed through a single throttle valve, to ensure the precise amount of air necessary for optimum power and fuel efficiency. It then enters each cylinder through individual long intake tracks, which are ‘pulse tuned’ to provide air at the precise volume and timing for maximum density and power.
    • Yamaha’s variable trolling control allows you to precisely adjust the engine’s idling speed from 650 to 900 RPM in 50 RPM increments. The ability to finely tune the trolling speed allows fisherman to perfect their lure presentation when chasing different species of fish.
    • Using Local Area Network (LAN) technology, these digital round gauges provide accurate and real-time tachometer, speed and fuel management stats, including fuel flow/consumption/economy (up to two tanks), trim level, battery voltage, push button trolling speed adjustments and more.
    • With its stylish chrome finish and ergonomic design, this mechanical control not only looks good, but provides effortless one-hand operation. The trim and tilt switch is comfortably located on the handle and features easily accessible neutral warm-up controls and externally adjustable throttle friction.
    • This highly-polished, stylish looking, top mounted control allows for effortless one-handed control. The ergonomic design features a thumb operated trim and tilt switch built into the handle, as well as shift and throttle control functions, for convenient and comfortable operation.
    • This highly-polished, stylish looking, top mounted control allows for effortless operation of twin mounted outboards. The ergonomic design features a thumb operated trim and tilt switches built into the handles, as well as shift and throttle control functions, for convenient and comfortable operation.
    • Prop choice makes a huge difference to outboard acceleration, top-end speed, handling and fuel efficiency. That is why Yamaha continues to push the technological boundaries in the design and development of our leading range of high performance props - ensuring every Yamaha outboard performs at its peak.
    • Many of Yamaha's mid-range and high horsepower props come with Yamaha’s exclusive Shift Dampener System (SDS). This system absorbs forces created when an engine shifts in and out of gear, resulting in a quieter, smoother and ‘clunk free’ shifting.
    • These props deliver Yamaha's high-quality design and performance in a low-cost, lightweight propeller. They offer a good all-round choice for Yamaha outboards, coming in a wide range of sizes and pitches to suit every power requirement.
    • The newly released aluminium GP introduces a renewed blade geometry and Yamaha’s Shift Dampener System (SDS) for ‘clunk free’ shifting to the K series of props. Suited to lighter hulls, this exceptional prop delivers improved acceleration, speed, fuel economy and anti-ventilation.
    • These high-quality aluminium props are ideal for heavier hulled boats such as fiberglass and plate aluminium, as well as modified V-type hulls, catamarans, pontoon and commercial work launches. Incorporating Yamaha's Shift Dampener System (SDS), these props deliver quiet and smooth shifting.
    • These specialised stainless steel props can enhance boat performance and improve how they handle particular conditions. The four-blade prop is ideal for rougher conditions and when greater acceleration is required, such as towing. These props are now available with Yamaha’s Shift Dampener System.
    • Yamaha’s Customer Outboard Protection (Y-COP) engine immobiliser system is easy to use and highly effective in stopping unauthorised start-ups when your boat is unattended. Simply push the button on the simple remote to lock and unlock the engine. Optional accessory for mechanical steering and tiller models.
    • With the latest technologies, ergonomic design and features, Yamaha's optional Multi-Function Tiller Handle delivers effortless control, maneuverability and comfort. Trim, shift, throttle, stop switch, variable trolling and integrated overheating and low oil pressure warning alerts are all built into the handle.
    • Yamaha offers a range of rigging options to suit every boat. Check out the full suite of controls, gauges, switches, props and other technologies, plus outboard performance data.

    • Yamaha’s most affordable Tachometer and Speedometer gauges offer RPM, Trim Angle, Oil Pressure, Overheat Warning, Trip Hours, Total Operating Hours, Speed, Trip Distance, Time, Fuel Level, Low-Fuel Warning and Battery Voltage/Warning.
    • The all-new, low profile Yamaha Command Link CL5 touchscreen display is small in size but big on information, features and capability. This display is suitable for all Yamaha Electronic Fuel Injected (EFI) engines and can monitor up to four outboards. It's sophisticated, modern design features intuitive operation and matches the latest boat console trends, while its compact size leave more room on the console for other electronics.
