Yamaha’s VMAX SHO (Super High Output) four-stroke engines have been designed to be the lightest, fastest and smartest high performance engines on the market. Originally developed for the US Tournament Bass Boat market, these extremely powerful motors are ideally suited skiing, boat racing and a whole range of other shallow-hull water sports. The 2.8 litre VF150 engine not only achieves exceptional power outputs, but delivers an incredibly efficient, clean and quiet performance that uses up to 40 percent less fuel than traditional carburetted two-stroke engines. Their streamlined design conceals a 16-valve double-overhead cam, variable camshaft timing and electronic fuel injection, delivering the exhilarating hole shot and top speed of a two-stroke, with the efficient advantages of a four-stroke.     • Yamaha's optional Customer Outboard Protection (Y-COP) engine immobiliser system is easy to use and highly effective in stopping unauthorised start-ups when your boat is unattended. Simply push the button on the neat and simple remote to lock and unlock the engine.  
    • Using Local Area Network (LAN) technology, these digital round gauges provide accurate and real-time tachometer, speed and fuel management stats, including fuel flow/consumption/economy (up to two tanks), trim level, battery voltage, push button trolling speed adjustments and more. 
    • This high definition, colour display uses Local Area Network (LAN) technology to deliver accurate and real-time stats for single and twin engine setups. The customisable day/night gauge delivers information on fuel flow/ economy/ consumption, trim level, battery charge, speed, push button trolling and more.  
    • With its stylish chrome finish and ergonomic design, this mechanical control not only looks good, but provides effortless one-hand operation. The trim and tilt switch is comfortably located on the handle and features easily accessible neutral warm-up controls and externally adjustable throttle friction.
    • This highly-polished, stylish looking, top mounted control allows for effortless one-handed control. The ergonomic design features a thumb operated trim and tilt switch built into the handle, as well as shift and throttle control functions, for convenient and comfortable operation. 
    • Many of Yamaha's mid-range and high horsepower props come with Yamaha’s exclusive Shift Dampener System (SDS). This system absorbs forces created when an engine shifts in and out of gear, resulting in a quieter, smoother and ‘clunk free’ shifting.
    • Prop choice makes a huge difference to outboard acceleration, top-end speed, handling and fuel efficiency. That is why Yamaha continues to push the technological boundaries in the design and development of our leading range of high performance props - ensuring every Yamaha outboard performs at its peak.   
    • This new line-up of polished stainless steel props are specifically designed for Yamaha's powerful inline four-cylinder engines. They include Yamaha’s Shift Dampener System (SDS) for quieter and smoother shifting, without the ‘clunk’ normally associated with shifting gear. 
    • The 16 valve, 2.8 litre, double overhead camshaft (DOHC) layout with its increased cylinder capacity and large valves, results in optimum valve actuation, resulting in improved valve timing, acceleration and overall running performance.
    • Yamaha's Shift Dampener System (SDS) propellers greatly reduce the noise associated with shifting an engine in and out of gear by absorbing the forces generated when forward and reverse gears are engaged.
    • This engine is compatible with Yamaha's Digital Network Gauges, including the top-of-the-line Command Link Plus system, giving you the information needed to maximise engine performance and efficiency. This engine is also NMEA2000 compatible with third party multi-function displays, GPS and fish finders.
    • The direct ignition system, with plug cap and ignition coil, provides higher reliability and increased performance.    
    • The electronic throttle valve provides sure and more precise valve opening and closing according to each engine temperature and atmospheric condition. This system works in tune with the fuel injection and ignition systems, to deliver incredible response and exceptional fuel economy.
    • This alternator delivers more power: 50 amps at wide open throttle, producing a full 22 amps at only 600 rpm which means there is sufficient output to keep charging the battery even at low RPM.
    • The crankshaft design is offset 10mm from the centre of cylinder for more efficient transfer of power to the crankshaft.    
    • The Variable Camshaft Timing (VCT) advances and retards the camshaft timing according to the engine RPMs. This in combination with the electronically controlled single throttle valve system and long intake manifold boosts low and mid-range torque for optimum acceleration.  
    • Yamaha’s variable trolling control allows the skipper to precisely adjust the engine’s idling speed from 650 to 900 RPM in 50 RPM increments. The ability to finely tune the trolling speed allows fisherman to perfect their lure presentation when chasing different species of fish.
    • Yamaha’s most affordable Tachometer and Speedometer gauges offer RPM, Trim Angle, Oil Pressure, Overheat Warning, Trip Hours, Total Operating Hours, Speed, Trip Distance, Time, Fuel Level, Low-Fuel Warning and Battery Voltage/Warning.
